The Grind
**NEW UPDATE — 03/25/2026**
Lil bit of this, lil bit of that.
Fights are tuned to be more challenging - my hope is that there is more strategy needed, but you can still get through all 3 acts and test the game. We now have multi-enemy fights as well!
I've added some more cards & art, more random events, blah blah blah.
Still have a long way to go but this is at least an act 1-3 loop. Acts 4-6 will be added later and will add a substantial change & feel to the game.
Thank you again for taking the time to playtest.
If you have 2 minutes, please fill out this feedback form. Any and all feedback helps a ton:

**NEW VISUAL UPDATE — 03/09/2026**
I will be auditing the ‘battle math’ this week, BUT -
Some office art, card illustrations, charms, battle UI, rest site, and event backgrounds are now in! All still work in progress but is a little better than a blank background.
Old blank-background build still available below if you want to test pure mechanics/feel without art distraction.
A roguelike deckbuilder set in a collapsing corporate hellscape.
Build a deck. Fight your coworkers. Don’t get fired.
Early prototype — feedback extremely welcome (especially bugs in battles).
Thanks for being here. This thing needs real people playing it, and that's you.

You are an employee.
You did not ask to be here. You do not know how you got here. You have been in three meetings today and none of them had an agenda. Your performance review is overdue. The fluorescent light above your cubicle flickers. Who gave you the clearance to unchain yourself from your desk?
The Grind is a deck-building roguelike. You build a hand of cards, fight your way through a procedurally generated office building, and try not to get fired. The enemies are your coworkers. The boss is your boss. The loot is commission.
Floor by floor you face a myriad of enemy encounters: Interns, HR Reps, a Coffee Addict, a Vending Machine with a grudge. Each floor is a little worse than the last. Each fight a little more personal. You don't remember what you did before this job. You're not sure it matters anymore.

Where it's at right now:
- 3 playable acts with a full combat loop, working map, shop, perks, and random events
- Sound design is work in progress — office-themed, but please give suggestions
- Backgorunds and Character Art are work in progress. All visuals, including UI, are placeholders for now and may or may not be included in final version
- The end game will be 6 acts, a Severance/Fallout-style story told through the game design itself, and as much replayability as we can pack in
- More cards, card art, charms, enemy types, and fight formats (2v1, etc.) are coming
- Some cards have a 'second side'. You'll know it when you see it, or there will be "????" on the card. It's not a bug and will be fully integrated later.
Battles are the best place to find bugs right now. Go hard on them; fights will be more challenging as I receive more feedback.
Anything is fair game for feedback: the name, card names, the quips, the humor, the balance, all of it. If something feels off, I want to know. Telling me it's great doesn't help.
